APAH (Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing)

Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing builds and owns rental housing that is affordable to Arlington's low wage earners. St. Michael's has supported APAH's Resident Services in many ways, including food distribution, event volunteering, and support of school age children (for example, providing new backpacks filled with school supplies).

Engagement Opportunities:

APAH needs volunteers to work at their new Ballston food pantry which provides residents with weekly access to supplemental meet, eggs, milk, rice/pasta, and canned goods - reducing food insecurity for children and adults in vulnerable populations. Half-day shifts (morning or afternoon) are available Monday through Saturday.

More details on APAH and opportunities to volunteer are at apah.org.

Recent Events:

apah_520

In February, two parishioners volunteered at a Family Fun event at the Fisher House, serving and meeting residents. Fisher house is in our neighborhood, just one block from the church.

For the holidays, we collected diapers gift cards to support APAH families.

After our Sunday service and coffee on July 16th, 14 people left from St. Michael's to tour the APAH headquarters and housing facility on Carlin Springs Road. The tour and presentation highlighted numerous volunteer opportunities to support APAH clients in our community - including food distribution, school supply coordination, student and elderly mentoring, and community events. Afterwards most of us popped over to the Silver Diner where we discussed the many exciting ways to be a part of the APAH mission.

Service Times

Sunday Eucharist at St. Michael's is a comprehensive service of both Word and Sacrament. We read from the Bible, we recite or sing a psalm, and we listen to a sermon. Then we pray for the Church and the world, and we ask God's forgiveness for our sins. Finally, we greet one another in the peace of Christ and move to the sacramental service of the Holy Communion.

At services of Holy Eucharist, all baptized persons are welcome to receive holy communion. We also offer blessings to those who for any reason are not able or not comfortable receiving this sacrament.Children are always welcome at the communion rail. Learn more about Episcopal Worship
