August Experience for Children with Families: Loaves and Fishes Picnic

Loaves and Fishes Instruction Sheet
Loaves & Fishes Cutout Page

Fellowship for Parents:

All parishioners who currently have children at home are invited to participate in bi-weekly fellowship and discussion with fellow parents. This time will be an opportunity to connect with parishioners who have shared similar challenges and joys throughout the pandemic. We will gather every other Sunday evening ((July 12, July 26, August 9, August 23, September 6, September 20) from 8- 9 PM on zoom.

For August 9, please listen to this interview with Bryan Stevenson. Stevenson is the founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative, a clinical professor at the New York University School of Law, a MacArthur genius, and the author of the remarkable book Just Mercy — which was recently turned into a feature film. This conversation is about truth and reconciliation in America — and about whether truth would actually lead to reconciliation in America. It’s about what the process of reckoning with our past sins and present wounds would look and feel and sound like. It’s about what we can learn from countries like Germany and South Africa, that have walked further down this path than we have. And it’s about the country and community that could lie on the other side of that confrontation.

For July 26, please listen to Unlocking Us, featuring Brené Brown’s interview with Austin Channing Brown. Austin Channing Brown’s anti-racism work is critical to changing our world, and her ability to talk about what is good and true about love, about our faith, and about loving each other is transformative. She is a writer, a speaker, and a media producer providing inspired leadership on racial justice in America.

For July 12, please listen to The Sunday Read: ‘Facing the Wind’ from the NYTimes “The Daily” podcast. Carvell Wallace, best selling author, writer, and podcaster considers why, for his kids, a global pandemic that shut down the world was not news – it was the opposite of news. It was a struggle that had, in some ways, always been a part of their lives.

For June 28, please listen to the Integrated Schools podcast episode featuring The Rev. Dr. Jennifer Harvey. The Reverend, Dr. Jennifer Harvey is a parent, a writer, an educator, and an activist. Her 2018 book Raising White Kids: Bringing Up Children in a Racially Unjust America offers age-appropriate insights for teaching children how to address racism when they encounter it and tackles tough questions about how to help white kids be mindful of racial relations while understanding their own identity and the role they can play for justice.

Time: Jun 28, 2020 08:00, Every 2 weeks on Sun (July 12, July 26, August 9, August 23, September 6, September 20)

Service Times

Sunday Eucharist at St. Michael's, celebrated at both services, is a comprehensive service of both Word and Sacrament. We read from the Bible, we recite or sing a psalm, and we listen to a sermon. Then we pray for the Church and the world, and we ask God's forgiveness for our sins. Finally, we greet one another in the peace of Christ and move to the sacramental service of the Holy Communion.

At services of Holy Eucharist, all baptized persons are welcome to receive holy communion. We also offer blessings to those who for any reason are not able or not comfortable receiving this sacrament.Children are always welcome at the communion rail. Learn more about Episcopal Worship

At this time we will continue to ask that all attendees of indoor worship wear masks, preferably well-fitting N95 or KN95 masks. Wearing masks makes our in-person gatherings as safe as possible for all, especially those who are at higher risk for contracting COVID. Masks are available at all entrances to the building for anyone who may need to make use of them. We appreciate your thoughtfulness in caring for your neighbor.
