Doorways for Women and Families

Doorways creates pathways out of homelessness, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. It assists women and families, including many young children, through its Emergency Shelter, Freddie Mac Foundation Family Home, and Supportive Housing Program.

St. Michael's parishioners are long-time financial supporters of Doorways (formerly TACTS), the emergency shelter and safe house for women and families. We assist through gifts for mothers and children, donations of household items, and gift cards for purchasing back-to-school supplies.

Engagement Opportunities:

More details on Doorways and opportunities to volunteer are here.

Recent Events:

On February 25th, Doorways representative, Joy Meyers presented an overview of their mission and activities to the parish at the coffee hour following the 9:30 service. She provided information on how we can help increase awareness about domestic violence and the resources available for those who experience it. The more aware that we are, the more we might be able to help someone in need.

For the holidays, we collected paper towels, disinfecting wipes, and gift cards to support Doorways families.

In April 2023, St. Michael's collected workbooks (math, spelling, reading) for children ages pre-K through 4th grade. Examples of the on-line sites used for buying the items are here, and here.

Service Times

Sunday Eucharist at St. Michael's is a comprehensive service of both Word and Sacrament. We read from the Bible, we recite or sing a psalm, and we listen to a sermon. Then we pray for the Church and the world, and we ask God's forgiveness for our sins. Finally, we greet one another in the peace of Christ and move to the sacramental service of the Holy Communion.

At services of Holy Eucharist, all baptized persons are welcome to receive holy communion. We also offer blessings to those who for any reason are not able or not comfortable receiving this sacrament.Children are always welcome at the communion rail. Learn more about Episcopal Worship
